Day 4 / Meeting Over 100 Kids

An early start for some of the team this morning as they headed over to Herron’s Creek primary school to run another SRE assembly.  Despite the smaller numbers, the children were excited to meet Jaffa and Lauren, although poor Jaffa got swamped at the end. The shepherding continued at Lake Cathie (Pronounced Cat-eye) Primary School, where the team met with 100 students from kindergarten to year 6. It was a great morning with the primary schools, and an exciting opportunity to talk about Jesus with so many young people.

Stephen and Lauren had the chance to meet with some of the student committee members of the PCS at Charles Sturt University. Together they looked at what the word Holiness means and how it is used in the Bible. The team walked away together with a better understanding of what the Bible defines as Holiness. Stephen and Lauren were encouraged by the committee’s willingness to engage with them.

It has been really exciting for us to witness the impact that the Christian group has had at CSU and other local campuses. With not a lot of options on campus the group has managed to draw and change people from many different backgrounds. It is a real testament to the work that Steve does across the many difference campuses in Port Macquarie (“Port”).

Some of the team also had the chance to come to afternoon called Community at 3 (That meets at 4). This group meets weekly and is targeted towards those in the community who are disadvantaged and vulnerable. There were some amazing stories told, and the team had the opportunity to witness and show compassion to the community. It was encouraging to see such care for people given by the public and church members.

The day ended with the chance to meet with more of the congregation, in their growth groups. We were again welcomed and loved by these groups as they shared with us, talked with us, and helped us think about ministry after collage. Others also had the chance to meet with some young adults and talk with them about the benefits of studying the Theology.
